First layer random swirls and lines

  • Not sure what’s going on. This is the third item i have printed where the first layer has random lines and swirls on the first layer. Does anyone know the setting that would help clean this up?

Your first layer Z height is too high, thus filament is not squished between the nozzle and the hot bed so it does not stick, or your model has issues and prints in mid-air.

Please run the built-in first layer 'Z' calibration and show us the result *on the print-sheet*.

Here is the first layer calibration. 1.5 height 260 degree nozzle and 100 degree bed. In the splicer the bottom layer is clean close to the top layer consistency. Not sure why the solid infill is printing different.

@_kaszpir_ is right, your first layer calibration is a fraction too high, not enough squish.

At the end of the calibration you are aiming to print a single layer postage stamp sized *sheet*. It should be possible to peel it off in one and fold it without the threads seperating. If it breaks into lines it is too high, not squished enough. If it is a single sheet but with wavy lines or drag marks on it you are too low.

Cheerio,

It seems pretty tight together, but i can lower it and see if it improves. It is ASA any recommendations on height?

I r commend to use and read/watch this https://www.printables.com/model/107639-first-layer-calibration-prusa-mini

Slice it with 0 or 90 degrees for infill ( see expert mode in PrusaSlicer).

It takes a bit more time - you have to stand next to the printer and manually adjust z height every 5mm of printed layer, so it generally takes about 10 minutes in total, but allows to get much better results than built-in calibration that is in the firmware.
