Can't remove Prusa filament anymore
Hi there,
I have got my Prusa Mini printer one week ago. I did the first print with the test PLA from Prusa. I was really excited of the result. Then I tried to change the filament to the original Prusa PETG, but I failed. I was not able to get it through the extruder.
Then I changed the filament to the other test PLA and it worked fine again. Now I'm trying to change it again, but I'm no longer able to get the PLA out of the extruder. So it's no longer in the tube to the hotend. No idea to remove it.
Hopefully you have some hints for:
- How to remove the PLA from the extruder
- Why I'm not getting in the original Prusament PETG in to the Prusa Mini? It seems, that the PETG is slightly more thick.
RE: Can't remove Prusa filament anymore
Chances are filament is stuck somewhere in the extruder and nearby chambers. This may help you with disassembly and cleanup: https://help.prusa3d.com/en/guide/how-to-access-and-clean-the-extruder-pulley-mini_126457 Clean gears if there is filament stuck between teeth and I'd do a preventative cold pull as well to clean hotend from switching between PLA and PETG.
PETG is no thicker than PLA, all are 1.75 mm. But it is less stiff, and what happened on my first attempt with PETG was that it wrapped around extruder gears. Filament was wet, blobs stuck to the nozzle from outside, and my idler tension was too high -> when trying to push it to hotend it wrapped around it. Fortunately no damage to plastic parts. It's surprising how much force it can actually give.
Good luck and report back how it goes.

@crawlerin
you made my day 🙂
I followed the instructions and both issues are solved. Thank you so much
